McKinney, Texas – A McKinney Independent School District athletic trainer has been arrested and charged following allegations involving a high school student, according to police, the student’s family attorney and the district.
The police in McKinney said that 35-year-old Lindsey Elizabeth Post was arrested and charged with two second-degree charges: sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and a student. According to jail records, Post is currently being held at the Collin County Jail.

The matter came to light after individuals raised concerns about a student at McKinney North High School who was alleged to have acted or communicated inappropriately. The district says it learned on January 27 about reports of inappropriate text conversations and probable misbehavior involving Post.
Officials in the district indicated that the material was quickly sent to several groups, such as the State Board for Educator Certification of the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and the McKinney Police Department.

McKinney ISD said it delayed notifying families publicly at the request of law enforcement while the investigation was underway and until after an arrest was made. The district verified that Post was put on leave once it was authorized to do so.
The district wrote to families to say that Post was an athletic trainer at McKinney North High School and also helped out at Cockrill Middle School and Scott Johnson Middle School. District administrators made it clear that keeping students safe remains their top priority.

WFAA reported that Paul Herz, a lawyer for the student’s family, said the claims were quite serious. He said the case is about a first-year high school student and accused Post of misusing her position as a teacher. Herz said that the behavior in question happened over a number of months and included events both on and off school grounds.
Herz Law says that the student told someone about the alleged sexual assault, which led to a quick investigation by the McKinney police. Police have not given any more information because the case remains open.
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional information could be released as the process continues.
