After eight months on the run, Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitive David Segundo Jr. captured in Irving through joint DPS and Dallas County operation

Irving, Texas – A man on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted list was taken into custody earlier this week following a coordinated law enforcement effort in North Texas.

David Segundo Jr., 47, was arrested without incident on July 7 in Irving, Texas. Authorities confirmed the operation was carried out by Special Agents from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in collaboration with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

Segundo had been sought for multiple violations, including failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, a parole violation, and a probation violation. His arrest marks the end of an eight-month manhunt after he fled supervision in November 2024.

Segundo’s criminal background spans several serious offenses. According to DPS records, he was convicted in 1999 of aggravated sexual assault involving a 27-year-old woman, for which he received a 10-year prison sentence.

Years later, in 2015, he received another 10-year sentence for failing to comply with his mandated sex offender registration duties. Despite being on parole until April 2026, Segundo failed to report as required, prompting the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to issue a warrant for his arrest.

His fugitive status escalated in February 2025 when additional warrants were filed by both the Haltom City Police Department and Dallas County. The charges stemmed again from his failure to register as a sex offender and a separate probation violation.

While Segundo’s capture brings closure to his recent evasion, the Texas Department of Public Safety noted that the arrest did not stem from a public tip through the Crime Stoppers program. As a result, no monetary reward will be issued in connection with this case.

Segundo’s apprehension highlights the ongoing efforts of state and local law enforcement to track and arrest high-risk offenders. DPS continues to encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to the capture of fugitives listed on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted.
