As Texas grapples with flood devastation, H-E-B’s community-driven response brings financial support, food, water, and essentials to hardest-hit areas

Texas – The donation includes $2 million set aside for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund through the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. This fund will help pay for important services like rescue operations, recovery programs, and financial relief for families in areas like Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort that have been affected.

“For 120 years, the Butt family has proudly called Kerrville home,” said Howard Butt III, H-E-B CEO. “Our hearts ache for the children, families, and communities facing tremendous loss throughout Texas in the wake of these floods. Our Partners have big hearts, and we will continue to support our neighbors. H-E-B and our dedicated Partners are here to help.”

H-E-B’s response goes far beyond financial aid. The company has already activated its mobile kitchen in Ingram and dispatched teams of volunteers—known internally as Partners—to serve meals and deliver essentials such as bottled water, cleaning supplies, and H-E-B gift cards to heavily impacted regions including Burnet, Marble Falls, San Angelo, and Liberty Hill.

Stephen Butt, H-E-B’s President of Shareholder Relations, talked about how the company has deep ties to the Hill Country.

“Our founder Florence Butt was known for sharing food with those in need on the banks of the Guadalupe River. Her commitment to serving others inspired H-E-B’s Spirit of Giving which is a cornerstone of our company. Today we are proud to continue her legacy and stand with great resolve to help our communities as they begin to recover,” Butt said.

H-E-B has also started a check stand donation campaign, which lets customers give money to relief efforts directly as they shop in-store, online, or through the Favor App. All of the money raised will go to NGOs that are helping people on the front lines of the crisis.

H-E-B is constantly focused on helping its own people as well as reaching out to the community. The company claimed it is actively helping employees who were affected by the flooding by giving them counseling and money.

In a statement, the grocer reaffirmed its commitment: “H-E-B holds compassion and strength for our fellow Texans. In the coming weeks and months, H-E-B will stay close to impacted communities and provide ongoing support throughout the recovery process.”
