Celebrated plant expert Chris Wiesinger to headline Rockwall Master Gardener event focused on flower bulb success, education, and community growth

Rockwall, Texas – The Master Gardener Association is bringing in famous horticulture and author Chris Wiesinger, who is best known as “The Bulb Hunter.” Rockwall County is about to be filled with ideas. The celebration will take place on Thursday, September 19 at 10 a.m. at Liberty Hall in the Rockwall County Courthouse, which is at 1111 E. Yellow Jacket Lane.

Wiesinger started The Southern Bulb Company and has spent his whole life bringing back flower bulbs that grow successfully in Southern climates. He is known for his deep knowledge and contagious passion. He will teach attendees how to cultivate and care for heirloom perennial bulbs, which are floral jewels that can make Texas gardens seem beautiful for years to come. His discussion will be about the best types of bulbs for the area, when to plant them, and how to care for them so they stay healthy year after year.

There are two levels of tickets: general entry, which costs $35 and is given out on a first-come, first-served basis. VIP seating is offered for $50 for people who want a more personalized experience. This includes preferential seating and a tiny take-home bulb pack. After the presentation, all guests will have lunch provided.

Lunch will be prepared by none other than Tara Royer Steele, affectionately known as The Pie Queen. Steele is the founder of Gather and Grace and the author of *Keep Your Fork, There’s Pie!*, a title that reflects her joyful spirit and was featured on the Today Show with Hoda and Jenna. Her signature pies will also be available for purchase at the event.

Along with the presentation, people will be able to buy heirloom bulbs that were cultivated in Texas. The money made from selling bulbs will go straight to the “Planting Seeds for the Future” scholarship fund for Rockwall County students who want to study horticulture or a similar field. This June, Avery McInvale became the first person to get a scholarship from the program. She is now studying Natural Resource Management at Angelo State University.
