Richardson, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott has announced a big boost for the economy in North Texas: Collins Aerospace, a part of RTX, will be expanding its operations in Richardson. The move will bring more than 570 high-skilled jobs to the area and more than $57 million in capital investment. This will strengthen Texas’s position as a leader in the aerospace and military sectors.
Collins Aerospace will expand its manufacturing and research and development operations in Richardson as part of its growth. The state has given the project a Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $3.7 million to help it along. The fund is meant to help businesses who are thinking about moving to Texas while other states are also in the running.
Governor Abbott emphasized the significance of the project, saying it was a big step forward for Texas’s economy and workers.
“Texas is ranked as the No. 1 state for attracting aerospace manufacturing,” said Governor Abbott. “This $57 million investment by Collins Aerospace to expand their manufacturing and R&D operations in Richardson will create more than 570 good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans and deliver innovative solutions right here in Texas. Partnering with industry leaders, we will ensure Texas remains the hub for aerospace, aviation, and defense for generations to come.”
Collins Aerospace executives cited Texas’s strong commitment to innovation and its supportive business environment as key factors in their decision. Philippe Limondin, Vice President and General Manager for Strategic Solutions, noted, “The support from the State of Texas and the City of Richardson made the decision to expand our footprint an easy one.”
Local leaders have also applauded the news. State Representative Angie Chen Button praised the creation of high-wage, high-skill opportunities for local residents, stating that the expansion will be a “big win for Richardson and North Texas.” Senator Bob Hall echoed that sentiment, adding that the project “reinforces our area’s leadership in aerospace innovation and advanced manufacturing.”
“Texas remains a place where businesses not only thrive but lead,” said Representative Katrina Pierson. “I’m proud to see Collins Aerospace expanding in my district, creating quality jobs, and driving innovation through manufacturing and research and development. As we invest in our workforce and infrastructure, we’re laying the foundation for even greater economic success in the years to come.”
“Collins Aerospace’s decision to expand operations in Richardson is a powerful testament to the strength of our business environment and the talent pipeline that supports it,” said Richardson City Manager Don Magner.
Collins Aerospace is not only improving its own capabilities with this expansion, but it is also helping the regional economy and making sure that Texas stays at the forefront of aerospace and defense innovation.
