Rockwall, Texas – Work has officially started on one of Rockwall County’s most anticipated new neighborhoods, as Huffines Enterprises has broken ground on the 900-acre Horizon Lakes community in McLendon-Chisholm. This big project, located at 1511 Pullen Road, is the latest trademark project from a Dallas-based developer that is known for building successful, amenity-rich communities throughout North Texas.
The first phase of Horizon Lakes will have 1,650 home sites available for sale. Future residents will be able to choose among houses developed by CastleRock Communities, Pulte Homes, and Toll Brothers. The first house sites are set to be delivered in 2027, and the community’s amenities center, which will look out over one of many planned lakes, is also part of Phase I. Financing for the project has been secured through Trez Capital.
“We’re delighted to begin work on Horizon Lakes,” said Don Huffines, who leads the private development firm, said to Candys Dirt. “This outstanding community is in place to take advantage of the eastward-moving DFW growth and will offer multiple home options and amenities for families interested in a more relaxed and nature-driven lifestyle.”

At full buildout, Horizon Lakes will feature about 1,800 homes, with prices ranging from the low $500,000s up to $2 million. The neighborhood is made for people who want to move up and is meant to combine nature with modern conveniences.
There will be more than 12 miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails, three recreational lakes where you can kayak and fish, several parks, and a large amenities center with a gym, pools for adults and kids, and pickleball courts. There are also proposals for an outdoor amphitheater, a ballroom, and event rooms that may be used for private parties and performances.

The fact that the Rockwall Independent School District is well regarded and serves the area is a plus for families living in McLendon-Chisholm.
