Dallas, Texas – The Dallas Police Department has released its results of an extensive summer crime campaign that led to the apprehension of 99 fugitives in June. Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux is leading a bigger attempt to lower violent crime by going after people with outstanding felony warrants. This operation is called “Operation Justice Trail.”
Dallas Police Department arrested a total of 99 people from June 1 to June 30
From June 1 to June 30, the Fugitive Unit of the Dallas Police Department cooperated with the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force to find and arrest some of the city’s most dangerous criminals. The 99 people who were arrested had all been arrested before, a total of 616 times. This shows how serious the threat is from a tiny number of repeat criminals.
“Our goal is simple: to make Dallas the safest large city in America,” said Chief Comeaux. “We know that a small percentage of violent criminals are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime. By focusing our efforts on these individuals, we are sending a clear message—violence will not be tolerated in our city.”
Dallas Police Department is using planned, intelligence-based approach to crack down on criminals
The operation shows that law enforcement is using a planned, intelligence-based approach. Chief Comeaux emphasized how important it is to work together to make safety improvements that last. One of these collaborations is with the U.S. Marshals Service, which was very important in carrying out this high-impact sweep.
Acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Texas, Marco Villarreal, praised the joint efforts.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have an outstanding partnership with the Dallas P.D. in Operation Justice Trial to make our communities safer by targeting the drivers of violent crime,” said Northern District of Texas Acting U.S. Marshal Marco Villarreal. “We want safer communities like all residents do. By working together, the members of our North Texas Fugitive Task Force and the Dallas P.D. continue to make an impact by increasing community safety. This is what we do every day, and we will continue to do so.”

Along with the arrests, the department is asking the public to help with ongoing efforts. If you have information that leads to the arrest of anyone with outstanding felony warrants for certain serious crimes, North Texas Crime Stoppers will give you $1,000. This deal has validity until August 31, 2025.
The program is part of a larger plan for public safety that is being put into action all throughout Dallas. Local leaders want to lower crime and make life better for everyone in the city by focusing on enforcement, getting people involved, and working together with other agencies.
