Rockwall County, Texas – Rockwall County is getting ready to open the doors to its new Courthouse Annex, which will bring all of the county’s important services together in one place. The annex, which is next to the historic courthouse at 1101 Yellow Jacket Lane, is set to open later this summer. It is a big step toward making it easier for people to get to local government resources.
The new structure will be a central location for a number of functions, such as registering vehicles, holding elections, helping veterans, and providing health care to those in need. Rockwall County Commissioner John Stacy highlighted the significance of the project, especially as the county continues to grow.
“It is crucial to develop a centralized space that addresses our community’s needs, especially since this initiative is not funded by local taxpayers. The COVID relief grants provided by the federal government, through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), offer a unique opportunity to invest in our future. By utilizing these funds, we can create a public facility that enhances service delivery without placing additional burdens on property taxes or requiring local bonds,” he explained.

The facility also has a multi-use room that will serve as a voting center, a conference place, and even a temporary shelter for heating or cooling during emergencies.
