Dallas, Texas – In the early morning hours of July 27, 2025, an off-duty police assignment in Dallas turned into an active crime scene following a shooting involving an officer in the 10700 block of Finnell Street.

According to the Dallas Police Department, at around 2:20 a.m., officers working in a uniformed off-duty capacity heard a single gunshot ring out nearby. Acting quickly, they moved toward the sound and discovered a confrontation unfolding in a parking lot between two men—one of whom was armed. The man he had been fighting with—the initial victim—suffered a gunshot wound to the face. Emergency responders treated him at the scene, and his injuries are also considered non-life-threatening.
