Two separate violent incidents in Dallas leave one woman dead and multiple people injured as police investigate unrelated shooting scenes hours apart on Feb. 2

Dallas, Texas – Dallas police were called to two serious and unrelated incidents on February 2, 2026, responding to separate emergencies that unfolded hours apart in different parts of the city. Both cases remain under active investigation, according to official reports by the Dallas Police Department.

The first incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the 800 block of Green Cove Lane. Officers arrived after receiving a report of a shooting and found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was later identified as 28-year-old Tabatha Jones. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported her to a nearby hospital, but she did not survive her injuries.

Investigators determined that the suspect and the victim were known to each other. A 49-year-old woman, Shanika Battle, was taken into custody at the scene and later charged with murder. Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses connected to the case.

Later that evening, around 8:41 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call in the 4300 block of Woodhollow Drive involving a reported armed individual. According to police, the suspect was allegedly threatening people while holding a gun. When officers entered the residence, they learned the suspect was inside a bathroom with another person.

Officers issued verbal commands while inside the home. During the encounter, witnesses shouted warnings that the suspect was armed. Shortly after, gunfire erupted inside the residence. Two individuals were struck by gunfire and transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. An officer was also hit, though the bullet struck the officer’s protective vest. The officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover.

Authorities have not released additional details about the identities or conditions of those involved in the second incident. Police stated that the officer-involved shooting is under active review, and further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information related to either case is encouraged to contact Dallas Police as investigations continue.
