With the opening of Permian Basin lithium facility Texas pushes to secure domestic battery minerals and reshape the future of American energy manufacturing

Texas – Texas Governor Greg Abbott cut the ribbon at Element3 Resources’ lithium extraction and carbonate facility in the Permian Basin, marking a new stride in the state’s energy and manufacturing future. The event brought attention to the expanding efforts to make sure that the US has enough of the important minerals needed in batteries, innovative manufacturing, and national security.

Abbott spoke at the event and said that Texas is the country’s top energy producer. He also stressed how important it is to make the commodities that modern supply chains need. Lithium is an important resource for everyday technology and that the state is in a unique position to lead the way in making it.

“Element3’s plan is the epitome of quintessential Texas ingenuity, building the first lithium carbonate production plant from oilfield waste right here in the United States. Texas is bigger, stronger, and better because of Element3,” Abbott added.

The governor was joined by state and federal executives, such as Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian and Anthony Pugliese, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Technology Commercialization.

There also were retired Major General John M. Olson of the U.S. Space Force and Hood Whitson, the founder and CEO of Element3. Officials stressed the importance of indigenous mineral development in making the country’s energy supply safer and less dependent on foreign sources.

Abbott complimented the Trump administration for putting more emphasis on American self-reliance in developing minerals and energy during his speech. He stated that projects like Element3’s show how the US can bring essential resource production back home while also supporting long-term economic growth.

Element3’s technology is all about getting lithium and other useful elements out of the wastewater that comes from oil and gas activities. The company wants to harness these neglected resources in new ways to make a steady and environmentally friendly supply of minerals needed for the changing energy landscape and advanced manufacturing sectors.
