Rockwall County, Texas – After a terrible house fire left a local family without a home on one of the coldest nights of the week, the Heath community is coming together to help them. Late Monday evening, as freezing temperatures kept most residents indoors, a fire destroyed the Heath home of Amy Grimmer and her husband, Tracy Butler. The house and almost everything inside were destroyed.
The couple lost their house, personal goods, and basic needs in just a few hours. They got away with little more than the clothes they were wearing. The abrupt loss has been too much to handle, but the community’s response has been quick and emotional.

Grimmer, a well-known realtor in Rockwall and Heath for a long time, has helped many people find homes throughout the years. Now, friends and coworkers are helping her family get back on their feet. Haley Hinds, Crystal Widman, and Shelley Dudley, who are all real estate agents, instantly got to work organizing relief efforts, raising money, and spreading the word to help the family through this tough time.

A GoFundMe campaign that started soon after the fire has become the main focus of those efforts. The campaign says that the money received would go straight to the family’s immediate needs, such as clothing, personal items, temporary accommodation, furniture, and taking care of their pets. The goal is to give the family stability and basic comfort as they start the lengthy process of putting their lives back together.
The outpouring of generosity has been significant. More than 200 people have given money to the campaign, which has brought in around $36,000 toward its $40,000 goal as of the time this was written. Friends, coworkers, clients, and people in the neighborhood keep giving money to help in any way they can.
Supporters say the response reflects the strong sense of compassion within the Heath community. Many people have sent notes of support to the family, letting them know that they are not alone and that help is available as they deal with this tragedy.
The people working on the project have one basic goal: to help the family fulfill their immediate needs and start to heal after an unexpected and life-changing tragedy.
