Copeland Home Services expands EV charger installations as Rockwall County adoption grows

Rockwall County, Texas – As electric vehicles become a more common sight in driveways across North Texas, Copeland Home Services is widening its residential EV charger installation program across Rockwall County and the eastern Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs.

The Forney-based HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractor says the expansion is tied to a fast-moving shift in local transportation habits. Data compiled by the Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition and the Texas Department of Transportation shows that EV registrations across Texas have nearly tripled since 2022, reaching roughly 457,000 vehicles. The state is adding about 1,500 new EVs each week, while North Texas surpassed 145,000 registered EVs in 2025 after growth of about 34 percent year over year.

That growth has not been matched evenly by public charging access, especially east of Dallas. Communities such as Rockwall, Heath, Fate, Forney, and Royse City still have fewer public Level 2 and DC fast chargers than central Dallas. For many homeowners, that means the most reliable charging station is no longer across town. It is in the garage.

Copeland Home Services is focusing on Level 2 home charging systems, which typically require a dedicated 240-volt circuit. The company’s licensed electricians manage the process from panel load calculations and permit coordination to final inspection. Installations include Tesla Wall Connectors as well as universal J1772 systems such as ChargePoint, JuiceBox, and Grizzl-E, supporting EV models from Tesla, Ford, Rivian, Chevrolet, Hyundai, BMW, and other automakers.

Safety remains a central part of the work, particularly in attached garages where Texas summer heat can add stress to electrical systems. Each installation is checked against National Electrical Code standards, including wire gauge, circuit dedication, and overheating protection.

“A Level 2 charger pulls roughly the same continuous load as an electric dryer running for six to eight hours, so the panel evaluation matters as much as the charger itself,” said Brandon Copeland, Owner of Copeland Home Services in Forney, TX. “When we walk into a home in Heath or Rockwall, the first question we answer is whether the existing panel can carry the load safely before we ever pull a permit.”

The company now serves homeowners in Rockwall, Heath, Fate, Royse City, Forney, Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Sunnyvale, Terrell, and nearby communities. In newer subdivisions, where two-EV households are becoming more common, older 100-amp panels can sometimes limit what can be added. Copeland’s team says panel upgrades are recommended only when load calculations show they are needed.

The EV charger expansion also points to a broader change inside North Texas homes. More residents are adding EVs, heat pumps, induction ranges, smart appliances, and other high-demand technology. For local contractors, that means the electrical panel is becoming as important as the appliances connected to it.

Copeland Home Services is locally owned and based in Forney, Texas. The company provides HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services across Dallas-Fort Worth, including Dallas, Garland, Greenville, Mesquite, Plano, Rockwall, Rowlett, Royse City, Heath, Fate, Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Sunnyvale, Balch Springs, Terrell, and Seagoville. Founded by Brandon Copeland, the company holds Texas HVAC License TACLB121002E and Master Plumber License M41431. It was also named a 2024 Nextdoor Neighborhood Faves winner.
