Rockwall, Texas – As part of its effort to help local kids with their growth and development, the Rockwall County Library has set aside November 9, 2023, as a day for free Speech and Language Screenings. This free event is open to children ages 12 months and up. A nearby clinic’s professional Speech Language Pathologists will be on site and conduct the screenings.
Rockwall County Library shows continuous commitment in organizing community events
The Rockwall County Library continues to tirelessly organize different kinds of events, constantly showing that the library is more than just a place to read books. This event once again shows that the library is still dedicated to the health and happiness of the community. The tests are meant to check a lot of different speech skills in little kids, from how they say sounds to how well they can follow directions, answer questions, and get along with others.
Free Speech and Language Screenings at Rockwall County Library will take place at Women’s League Room
The preliminary tests will be given in the Women’s League Room on the second floor of the library. Parents will be able to talk to experts about their child’s speech development during these tests. The library has set up twelve screening times throughout the event day so that each person can get the care they need. Before the meeting, parents who want to take advantage of this opportunity must sign up through the library’s provided link and complete a consent form.
The permission forms, which are needed to take part, can be found in the library at either the Youth Services or Adult Reference desks. The library staff says that these forms are a necessary step to make sure that the screening process for each child goes smoothly and quickly.
The screenings should be short but thorough, checking for things like speech clarity, language understanding, vocabulary use, and reading and writing skills, if appropriate for the age group. Part of the screening will also include watching the child play and connect with others to get a full picture of their skills.
Free Speech and Language Screenings might help children in the future
The event is also about more than just getting results right away; it opens the door to future support. The screening could lead to suggestions for a full evaluation if the first views show that one is needed. Pathologists can also give advice on how often and for how long therapy services might be needed. As part of the program, people can also be sent to occupational therapy screenings if any problems are found during the language test.
