Rockwall, Texas – The community of Rockwall is taking proactive measures to address substance abuse. Rockwall Independent School District, in collaboration with the Rockwall Police Department, is set to host the 2023 Substance Abuse Prevention Forum on Wednesday, October 25th. The event will take place at the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy, located at 2301 John King Blvd, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

The forum will feature a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss substance abuse prevention, intervention, and community resources. Panelists include Adam Klaff, a certified Physician Assistant who brings medical expertise to the discussion. Marcus West, a representative from the Drug Enforcement Administration, will provide insights into drug-related issues from a law enforcement perspective. Haley Hicks, LCSW from Basepoint Academy, will offer a therapeutic perspective, emphasizing the importance of mental health and counseling in substance abuse prevention. Rounding out the panel are Brandon Dunn and Janel Rodriguez from the Forever 15 Foundation, a foundation dedicated to the memory of loved ones lost to substance abuse.
The Substance Abuse Prevention Forum aims to be an informative and engaging event for the Rockwall community. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from professionals in the field, ask questions, and learn about local resources available for those struggling with substance abuse or those who know someone who is.
This event is not just for those directly affected by substance abuse but for the entire community.
