Rockwall, Texas – Through a successful canned food drive, Welborn Garage of Rockwall has made a major impact this holiday season by supplying 729 meals to families in need, therefore showing a touching display of community spirit and generosity. Working with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), the project gathered more than 1,000 canned goods directly benefiting residents facing food insecurity in the area.
Mike Anderson, the owner of Welborn Garage, shared his enthusiasm and pride in the community’s willingness to support the cause.
“We know there are families in North Texas who struggle to put food on the table, especially during the holidays. Partnering with the North Texas Food Bank gave us a way to make a real difference. Every can donated truly counted,” Anderson said.
He emphasized that every single can donated by their customers helped to build this large contribution.
Welborn Garage cleverly fostered consumer involvement by discounting services in return for canned foods. Customers paid $10 less in their service charge for every can donated. This creative approach not only increased food collecting but also meaningfully included the community, therefore transforming the act of giving from basic to fulfilling.

The campaign attracted enormous support and attracted many donations from throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The opportunity to help others inspired many consumers; some of them gave more than the necessary number of cans to maximize their influence.
This program is especially important since many North Texas families fight food poverty, exacerbated by increasing expenses and financial difficulties over the holiday season. Many times, parents struggle to provide their families enough meals; the holiday pressure may further compound this already heavy load.
