City leaders emphasize need for community voices to guide future of Rockwall’s green spaces

Rockwall, Texas – The City of Rockwall is giving residents a chance to help define the future of the Rockwall parks and recreational areas by holding a special town hall and visioning session on Wednesday, July 23, at 6:00 PM. This event, which focuses on the community, will take place at The Center, which is located at 108 E. Washington Street. Its goal is to get people of all ages to share their thoughts on the city’s plans to build parks and trails.

The city is working on updating the Parks and Open Space Master Plan, which is a detailed plan for making parks more appealing, adding more recreational programs, building new trails, and protecting open spaces. This workshop is part of that effort. City leaders have stressed that it is very important for local residents to be involved in the planning process so that future developments meet the requirements and wants of the community.

Those who come to the event may look forward to an interesting and interactive night. After an introduction and overview of the Master Plan, residents will split up into small groups to talk about specific topics. There will also be interactive visioning stations where people can try out different ideas and see how they might improve things and make new recreational places.

Rockwall has effectively added a special “Kidz Zone” to the event since they know that younger residents are important to community planning. Kids can use their imaginations to construct their own ideal park in this creative area. This lets even the youngest people of the city have a say in how recreational places will look in the future.

Rockwall has created an online form available until July 24 for anybody who can’t make it to the event. This makes sure that everyone in the community can share their thoughts and goals, which will help make a Master Plan that really reflects the many needs and visions of the people who live there.
