Rockwall County businesses join “Thank a Veteran” program, offering discounts to honor military service

Rockwall County, Texas – With the start of its new “Thank a Veteran” program, Rockwall County has moved to honor local veterans. Through a dedicated ID card, the program provides veterans with exclusive discounts at nearby companies, therefore honoring the contributions made by individuals who have served in the military. Under the direction of the County Clerk’s Office, the project helps veterans to benefit from Rockwall County companies who have pledged to assist this important cause.

Offering a simple means of access to discounts by presenting a “Thank a Veteran” ID card, the program is offered to veterans from all branches of the United States military. All qualified veterans who contact the County Clerk’s Office with their DD-214 separation papers—a non-public record verifying their service—are eligible for this unique card free of charge.

Veterans can get their ID card free by securely uploading their DD-214 form. Rockwall County Clerk Jennifer Fogg has emphasized the program’s goal of honoring veterans with an easy and respectful process that safeguards their privacy. Retired United States Marine Captain Brent Erickson received the very first “Thank a Veteran” ID card from Clerk Fogg, signifying the official program debut.
