Rockwall, Texas – The Rockwall Fire Department is set to host an interesting event this weekend while bringing back to life an old, but not forgotten, tradition. The Rockwall Fire Department is ready to put into service their newest addition. A new fire truck will hit the streets very soon, and the department will organize a “push-in” event. This decades-long tradition is expected to bring the Rockwall community together on Sunday.
What is behind the “push-in” tradition?
But what is “push-in”? It goes back to the days when firefighters used horses. After responding to a call and getting back to their stations, firefighters would unhook the horses and push the gear back into the firehouse. These days, it’s more about remembering the past and bringing people together.

The Rockwall Fire Department’s new truck is actually a big deal. The newest addition comes with all the “bells and whistles”. The truck has the most recent technology and gear and is expected to make a huge difference in the Rockwall Fire Department’s operations. But the event is more about building connections between the department and the Rockwall community.
Local residents are invited with their kids
The department hopes that many people will show up and bring their kids. Getting a truck into a garage won’t be the only thing attendees have to do. The plan is to have demos, tours of the firehouse, and chances to talk to the firefighters. For most people, it’s a rare look behind the scenes.

It’s cool how this connects the past and the present. The work of the firefighters has changed a lot during the years, but some things remain the same: teamwork and commitment. That’s what this “push-in” is all about.
The event is set to take place on November 12
So, if you have time this weekend, stop by the fire office. You can learn about history, meet some area heroes, and see what they do. The fire department can’t wait to let people in and show them what this is all about. Everyone should have a good day.
The event is set to take place at Rockwall Fire Station 1, located at 305 E Boydstun, on Sunday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m.
