Rockwall, Texas – Residents in Rockwall may have noticed some disruption on their daily commutes, and it’s all for a good cause.
Starting September 25, a temporary lane closure has been implemented on South John King Boulevard. This closure, expected to continue until Oct. 9, is a necessary move as the crews from NorthStar Builders get busy installing a turn lane. But this isn’t just any turn lane; it’s a significant step in the advancement of Rockwall ISD’s infrastructure, leading to one of the upcoming ninth-grade centers.
These projects in Rockwall are possible thanks to a bond approved by voters in 2021
The 9th Grade Centers in Rockwall and Heath are monumental projects, stemming from a $475.8 million bond package that was approved by voters in November 2021. This bond package encompasses a broader vision for the district. Beyond the ninth-grade centers, work is currently underway on other key projects. These include a new Rochell campus for Elementary School and renovations to Utley Middle School.
The city’s commitment to education is evident, and students will soon reap the benefits. In less than a year, by August 2024, Rockwall ISD anticipates the doors of both ninth grade centers will be open, ready to welcome the young minds shaping the future of Rockwall.
On September 27, Rockwall city officials informed about road closures and alternate routes announced for Rockwall High School’s annual Homecoming Parade.
