Rockwall, Texas – The First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Rockwall, Texas, is calling on youth volunteers from the community to lend a hand at their annual turkey basket collection event, slated for November 20 and 21. The church has been serving as an anchor of faith within the local community since its establishment in 1856.
The Thanksgiving Baskets Event is all about helping the Rockwall community celebrate Thanksgiving
In line with the purpose of the First United Methodist Church, which is based on Jesus Christ’s teachings, this project aims to do more than just serve meals. It also aims to bring members together and help others during this time of year when families are preparing for the holiday season. By taking part in these kinds of charitable activities, kids, teens, and adults can create “good soil” where they can grow closer emotionally and socially.

Thanksgiving Baskets Event by FUMC of Rockwall to take place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Young volunteers are needed from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on November 20 and 21 to help organize donations into baskets containing enough food items necessary for families to prepare traditional Thanksgiving dinners at home. After that, they will be driven to the Wilkinson Center. This is another action that will reflect on the spirit of Thanksgiving, which is sharing gifts with those who need them the most.
First United Methodist Church of Rockwall will provide lunch to volunteers
Participation does come along with perks, though! Lunch would be provided post-delivery as a token gesture acknowledging all the hard work done by the young helpers! According to the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall website, the lunch is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.

This year, more than ever, participation is very important. With this effort, the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall wants to make sure that everyone can experience what this holiday is all about: enjoying a delicious meal with loved ones while showing gratitude for all of life’s blessings. It looks like volunteering isn’t just good manners; it’s also a physical representation of everything we know from the Bible, custom, reason, and experience.
