New tri-agency platform connects Texas students with resources for education, training, and careers

Austin, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott unveiled a newly improved website on Monday aimed at strengthening Texas’s education-to-workforce pipeline. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) worked together to create this new platform. Its goal is to make it easier for Texans to find jobs and schools.

At the announcement, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of building a skilled workforce ready for the future economy.

“That starts with supporting the education pipeline between our schools and employers. This education-to-workforce website will give Texas students the tools and training they need to succeed in the better job and bigger paycheck opportunities we provide in our great state,” said Governor Abbott.

The new tri-agency website is a one-stop shop for Texans looking for a wide range of resources that meet their needs. There are thorough lists of funding opportunities among these resources. These lists help schools and training providers create programs that are very similar to what employers are looking for. Users also get access to specialist advising tools that are meant to help students and their families plan their educational and career pathways more efficiently.

Commissioners from each agency praised the website as an essential step forward. Wynn Rosser, Commissioner of THECB, underscored that this collaboration expands opportunities for Texans.

“The Tri-Agency work is a critical part of how we expand opportunity for every Texan,” said THECB Commissioner Wynn Rosser. “This website helps bring those efforts to life in a more engaging and accessible way.”

“The new Tri-Agency website streamlines access to services and reflects our commitment to a more user-friendly system for Texans,” said TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel. “This initiative underscores our dedication to strengthening the vital link between education, training, and career opportunities.”

One thing that makes the new website stand out is the extent to which it focuses on apprenticeships and career paths. This is very helpful for students, veterans, and businesses. Now, users can better grasp how the state connects public education, higher education, and workforce development. This makes it easier for Texans to comprehend how they can get from school to a good job.

This project builds on Abbott’s long-term work, which started with the launch of the Tri-Agency Workforce Initiative in 2016. Since then, the effort has always tried to improve Texas’s workforce preparation through planned teamwork. In 2021, additional work was done by lawmakers to reinforce the Tri-Agency’s mandate, making sure that workforce policies were clear across both education and employment sectors.

Abbott’s objective, which has been strengthened by laws like House Bill 3 in 2019 and House Bill 8 in 2023, is to make sure that education and training options keep up with the changing needs of the Texas economy. The state hopes that this new website will make it even easier for schools, employers, and job seekers to communicate with one other.
