Rockwall, Texas – Tim McCallum, a Rockwall City Councilman and an established business leader, announced his candidacy for Mayor of Rockwall in the upcoming general elections scheduled for May 3, 2025. Originally elected to the council in 2023, McCallum has rapidly become a major player in the local political scene, especially in the continuous debates on urban development and infrastructure problems in Rockwall.
As Rockwall grows quickly, McCallum has expressed concerns about the city’s urban design decisions, especially the approval of high-density and multifamily housing developments. McCallum said these changes are harming the infrastructure of the city.
“As Rockwall continues its dynamic growth, we need to continue our focus on keeping density low and standards high. The recent approval of additional multifamily and high-density housing developments should be concerning to our citizens. I have a high sense of urgency to address infrastructure needs and curb the high density and small lot sizes that developers continue proposing within our city,” McCallum said in a release.
McCallum’s platform includes a number of important initiatives meant to solve these problems. He intends to concentrate on efficient traffic and transportation management, encourage economic development to keep low tax rates, and change the city’s Comprehensive Plan to match the expectations of the population about development density. He also underlined the need of developing a vision for Rockwall that preserves what’s drawing people to the neighborhood.
