Rockwall, Texas – “Awarding the Innovative Teaching Grants is the culmination of the REF’s year-round efforts with community supporters and business partners,” Rockwall ISD Education Foundation Executive Director Asheli Neill said in a press release after some Rockwall ISD teachers were awarded grants, an initiative that happens every year with an effort to support teachers who implement innovative teaching methods.
“We’re bringing educators’ ideas to life and providing what’s otherwise not possible for RISD students. It’s an incredibly magical experience, both personally and professionally,” Neill added.
The Rockwall ISD Education Foundation gave $37,000 in grants to teachers
Giving out over $37,000 in grants for the 2023–2024 school year, the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation (REF) did a lot more this year to support new, innovative ways of teaching. Thanks to the kind donations of people in the Rockwall community, including Rockwall businesses, this impressive amount is $15,000 more than the previous year.
Every year, the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation has a practice of asking teachers to apply for grants that will help them make new projects. The goal of these projects is to get students and teachers involved in new, interesting, and creative ways that will make learning more fun.
The Rockwall ISD Education Foundation will support 17 unique and creative projects
The grant program this year was especially powerful, with 17 unique and creative projects getting money. These projects, which are being led by 63 dedicated teachers, will help over 11,900 students, which shows that they will have a big effect on the way education is done in Rockwall ISD schools.
As a way of showing support and gratitude, the winners of these awards got a lovely surprise. Teams made up of REF board members, district board members, Superintendent Dr. John Villarreal, members of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Rockwall Class of 2024, and other respected community members went to the schools to congratulate the winners in person.
Focus on education and innovative teaching methods with the help of the Rockwall community
This action not only showed appreciation for the teachers’ dedication to new ways of teaching, but it also showed how involved and supported the community is in the Rockwall ISD, specifically focusing on education and making classes more interesting for students.
